Marshall University is teaming up with local agencies to make sure some local kids have a good Christmas.
The Marshall Rec Center is hosting "Rec The Halls With Holiday Hopes" program. Local agencies, such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Ronald McDonald House, Golden Girls Group Home, A.D. Lewis Center and NECCO, have submitted the names and a wish list of children. The names are color-coded and hung on a tree, then students choose one, purchase items from the list and drop them off at the Rec Center. Organizers said it's one way to get Marshall students involved with giving back.
"We see the bell ringers at Walmart, and that's important. But they don't see it every day. Here, it's on campus and they see it," said Michele Muth with Marshall's Rec Center.
The Rec Center will take all the unwrapped gifts and wrap them during a party Dec. 13 to deliver to the agencies.
