DEADLINE EXTENDED FEMA Extends Deadline For Derecho Assistance To Dec. 19

FEMA has extended the deadline for West Virginia residents affected by the June 29 derecho to sign up for individual assistance.
The original deadline was set for Monday, but FEMA has decided to give victims more time to apply by phone or online. The deadline is now Dec. 19.
Officials said the extension applies to resident in Boone, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Roane, Tyler, Webster and Wood counties.
If you have yet to register for assistance, you can call the FEMA hotline at 1-800-621-FEMA or log on at www.disasterassistance.gov.
Less than one week remains for West Virginia residents to register for disaster assistance to help with losses caused by the late-June/early-July derecho.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is urging everyone in the 20 affected counties to apply by Nov. 19, according to a news release from FEMA.
There are two ways to begin the application process. Residents may call FEMA's toll-free registration number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for those with speech or hearing impairment 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST. Residents may also register online at www.disasterassistance.gov.
Nov. 19 is the last day to apply for assistance for those affected by the straight-line storms of late-June/early-July in the following disaster-designated counties: Boone, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Roane, Tyler, Webster and Wood.
