A Charleston man is behind bars accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend during a fight early Sunday morning.
Police say they got a call about a possible stabbing on Wertz Avenue and Kanawha Boulevard around 7:15am.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim with two cuts on her forearm. The woman told police her ex-boyfriend, Erique Harris, stabbed her, sexually assaulted her and then took off.
Officers found Harris and arrested him. They also recovered the knife with the victim's blood on it.
Harris is charged with malicious wounding. Sexual assault charges are pending.
