Fifteen high school choirs from across the state participated in the First Lady's Festival of Songs Saturday.
Each choir put on a 15-minute performance at the Culture Center in Charleston.
The event was sponsored by the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, the West Virginia Department of Education and the Arts, and the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission
This serves as a way to celebrate music and encourage students to get involved in the arts.
"And we think if students are performing and having the opportunity to do that, whether they continue or not, as they grow older they will be the arts audiences of the future," said Caryn Gresham of WV Cultural and History.
This was the second year for the first lady's festival of songs.
