A Scioto County, Ohio, man who was missing for nearly two months before he was spotted in a remote wooded area on a deer surveillance camera has been found, sheriff's deputies said. James Laack, 35, of Swauger Valley was located about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, the Scioto County Sheriff's Department said. Some residents saw him walking along Daniels Road in Portsmouth, near where he disappeared in September. The residents took him to a home where they offered him food and coffee. They contacted his family members, and they came and got him, deputies said. Scioto County deputies think he was living in an abandoned house and surviving off the land. Detective Daniel Malone said authorities were told that he was surviving on grass and taking portions of a salt block left out for deer to flavor the grass. Detectives say Laack is in good health and is staying with his grandfather. A Scioto County, Ohio, man who has been missing for nearly two months was spotted in a remote wooded area on a camera set up to capture video of deer. James Laack, 35, of Swauger Valley was last seen Sept. 24 on surveillance video in Walmart. Laack's abandoned car was discovered in October. Authorities have used several resources and manpower to locate the missing man, including infrared cameras and helicopters. The Scioto County Sheriff's Department received word that the man believed to be Laack was spotted in video taken from a deer camera in late October. Family members confirmed it was him. In the video, Laack is shown cutting a piece off of a salt block in one instance. Authorities said the search has been difficult because of the terrain and miles of ground to cover. Authorities are looking for a Scioto County, Ohio, man who was last seen Sept. 29. James Laack, 34, of Swauger Valley was last seen when he was spotted on surveillance video making a purchase from Walmart, Capt. David Hall from the Scioto Sheriff's Department said. Laack's car was found stuck in the mud in the Scherer's Hollow area. Hall said that it appeared someone slept in the back seat. Family, friends and a dog search team have been combing the area for any signs of him. The search dog team tracked his scent in to a ravine Wednesday, and a helicopter will fly over the area Thursday. Laack is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds and has green eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Scioto Sheriff's Department at 740-355-8245. MORE NEWS FROM EYEWITNESS NEWS
