Long time Wayne County resident Renick Booth is the first republican to take the County Clerk's seat in Wayne County.
Booth beat Wilts Salmons for the seat Tuesday night. Booth spent Wednesday morning getting know workers in his new office. The position came open after the late County Clerk Jim Booten passed away. An interim clerk filled the until Tuesday.
Booth says, "I've gotten a lot of good feedback and a lot calls from Democrats and Republican friends. When you're in the car businsess, it's not Democrat or Republican. People want you to take care of them and that's how I feel about this job."
Booth will start his new job in the next couple weeks.
