PORTSMOUTH PEDESTRIAN HIT Elderly Man Hospitalized After Hit And Run

Police are searching for a car that may have been involved in an accident in which an elderly man was struck.
The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is looking for a dark gray or black SUV with damage to the passenger side, according to a news release from the Highway Patrol. The driver is believed to be a a white female with blond hair in her late 20s to mid-30s, police said.
The accident happened Tuesday about 6 p.m. on Carey's Run Pond Creek Road in west Portsmouth. Police said an elderly man was walking along the road when he was struck by the vehicle. The vehicle continued northbound. The victim was found in a nearby ditch.
The elderly man was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 740-354-2888.
