Eyewitness News has learned the name of the 10-year-old boy hit and killed by a truck in Mason County Sunday afternoon.
Earnest Trey McCarty, 10, of Ashton died from injuries he received in the accident along Sand Hill Road in Point Pleasant, according to a news release from the Mason County Sheriff's Office.
That crash remains under investigation.
A ten-year-old little boy is dead after he was hit by a pick-up truck in Point Pleasant.
It happened on Sand Hill Road in Point Pleasant, in front of the Marshall Center, around 1:30pm Sunday.
Deputies say the child was taken to Pleasant Valley Hospital, where he would have been flown to a Huntington hospital, but died in the emergency room.
The child's name will not be released until family is notified.
We are told the driver of the pick-up truck stayed on the scene. At this time, it is unclear if charges will be filed.
Police are on the scene of a child that has been hit by a car in Point Pleasant.
It happened on Sand Hill Road, in front of the Marshall Center, around 1:30pm Sunday.
Paramedics are flying the child to a hospital.
No word if the driver will face charges.
