Days before the election, the sheriff's race in Mason County is gaining steam.
Voters are hoping to change the reputation of law enforcement in Mason County. The former sheriff, David Anthony, recently pleaded guilty to charges of embezzlement and firing a gun at his son.
Anthony is currently trying to get his sentence reduced to probation or home confinement.
Democrat Greg Powers and Republican Gordon Clark are going head to head in the race.
As residents choose a replacement, Diana Cromley, county clerk, said the Mason County Courthouse has seen a record number of early voters. So far, Cromley has seen about 2,100 early voters so far.
