Power outages remain an issue in the wake of Sandy, and many West Virginians are staying in shetlers.
But in order to run those shelters there must be volunteers.
Red Cross and Volunteer West Virginia are working together to get volunteers ready to help out.
Training for those volunteers started in Charleston, Clarksburg, Beckley, and Morgantown.
Volunteers will be trained on the fundamentals of sheltering through a video course. The course is for those in the community and spontaneous volunteers who want to help right away.
The Red Cross is mobilizing volunteers from all over the country and many additional volunteers are still needed.
If you are interested in helping at a shelter, you can contact your local Red Cross office.
