LABOR OF LOVE Purple Baby Caps At CAMC Will Provide Education About Child Abuse

At Charleston Area Medical Center Women and Children’s Hospital Thursday, a labor of love was unveiled in the form of 1,000 purple baby caps.
The caps, knitted and crocheted by employees, family members and members of the community, will be handed out by staff to increase the awareness of child abuse, according to a news release from the hospital.
Crying is the number one trigger for shaking a baby and causing serious harm. The effort is to educate the community about The Period of PURPLE Crying. PURPLE is an acronym for that normal, but frustrating, period of increased crying that infants experience in the first few weeks and months of life.
