A 71-year-old West Virginia woman is the state's latest confirmed victim of Superstorm Sandy. A spokeswoman for Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin says the Webster County woman was found Wednesday beneath three feet of snow on her gravel driveway. Family members had been clearing the driveway when they discovered her body. Spokeswoman Amy Shuler Goodwin said the family believes the woman had gone outside to feed her dogs. She was last known alive on Monday. Her death is the state's sixth attributed to the storm. West Virginia has a higher death toll than any of the more than dozen other states lashed by Sandy's outer bands. But the medical examiner's office is not blaming Sandy in the death of a Barbour County man who had been shoveling snow at his home. West Virginia officials have confirmed a sixth death caused by Superstorm Sandy. Amy Shuler Goodwin, spokeswoman for Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, said Wednesday that the state had verified the sixth death, but she did not immediately have details or know where it occurred. The state medical examiner previously had confirmed five deaths caused by the storm, which dumped more than a foot of snow on parts of the state Monday and Tuesday. Local officials had identified a sixth death -- a Barbour County man who died while shoveling snow -- but earlier Wednesday the medical examiner's office had not confirmed that it was storm-related. It was not clear whether this was the sixth death identified by the governor's office. At least 75 people have died overall from the storm, including 30 in New York, 14 in New Jersey and 12 in Pennsylvania. MORE NEWS FROM EYEWITNESS NEWS
