West Virginia election officials are worried that Superstorm Sandy may keep some of the state's 1,866 precincts from opening on Election Day.
Secretary of State Natalie Tennant is West Virginia's elections chief. She's been in touch with county officials about lingering power outages that may leave precincts in the dark on Tuesday.
Tennant could not provide an estimate on the number of precincts possibly affected. But she said county officials already are making plans in case they have to relocate or combine precincts.
Tennant also warned voters not to believe any phone calls announcing closed or relocated precincts. Counties will post such notices at precincts and also inform the media.
The storm also blunted early in-person voting, though all but six counties were offering it.
