Humana Insurance customers are being told their coverage at some local hospitals will be no more as of Jan. 1.
"I don't know what to do, still don't know what to do," says Humana customer, Richard Cook.
Cook is a regular patient of doctors at CAMC. And now he is having to find all new physicians after finding out his coverage will be dropped.
"I called up there at 8 o'clock on Monday morning and talked to the lady up at CAMC medical services department and she told me, as of January 1, we would no longer be covered there."
Another Humana customer, who wished to remain anonymous, says she contacted Humana for more information about the drop date.
But she didn't get too far.
"She kept saying 'Well wait until you get your book, it'll tell you.' I said ' when's that going out?' 'Well soon.' I said 'Well I hope before January 1. 'Well I don't know.'"
Humana is ending its contracts with CAMC, Teays Valley Hospital and Integrated Health Care Providers. That will go into effect Jan. 1, 2013.
Now it's up to Cook and other Humana customers to find either new doctor's or new coverage before the fast approaching deadline of Dec. 7th.
"We're almost less than a month away from being able to change it and then you can't change. You're stuck. You know and I don't want to have to go all the way to Cabell-Huntington Hospital."
And for Cook, that doesn't seem fair to him and the hundreds of other Humana customers.
"It's going to be less than a month for me to find someone else. I just don't think that's right," says Cook.
We tried reaching out to Humana Insurance and CAMC, but both companies were unable to comment at this time.
