An Ohio man has been sentenced for possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine in Huntington.
Danny Merriweather, Jr, 25, of Toledo pleaded guilty in July and was sentenced to three years and one month in prison on Monday, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin. In July 2011, Merriweather admitted that he tried to swallow a bag of crack cocaine when he saw law enforcement approaching his home in Huntington, the release said. Officers were able to retrieve the bag that contained 13.8 grams of crack cocaine.
Merriweather is currently serving a prison sentence in Ohio for an unrelated drug conviction and will serve the newest sentence consecutively.
