A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly failing to register as a sex offender.
Paul Ray Cole, 45, of Huntington was arrested on Saturday and charged with failure to register as a sex offender, forgery, public intoxication, two counts of obstructing and fleeing, according to documents from Cabell County Magistrate Court.
Police noticed a man allegedly slurring his speech and smelling of alcohol, court documents state. Police said when they tried to stop the suspect, he fled on foot after being told multiple times to stop. After he was arrested, the suspect was being processed, and he allegedly gave false information to the officers.
Cole was convicted of first-degree sexual assault in Boyd County, Ky., in 1999 and failed to register as a sex offender in Huntington. He is being held at the Western Regional Jail on $40,600 bail.
