The Cabell County Sheriff's Department discovered more clues to help identify the human remains found in Ona on Sunday. A West Virginia driver's license belonging to Michael Whittier Rigdon was found near the remains, a news release from Sheriff Tom McComas said. The address listed on the license showed that he was a resident of the Ona area, the release said. A complete skeleton was not found, possibly due to animal activity or weather that disturbed the scene. The remains will not be positively identified until the state's medical examiner office completes its examination. Anyone with information is asked to call the Cabell County Detective's Bureau at (304) 743-1594. A bone chilling discovery in rural Cabell County Sunday afternoon has investigator busy. Bryan Justice lives along Wire Branch Road in Ona, his son found a human skull near their property in a wooded area. Justice said, "I didn't think it was real at first, I got down and looked at it and it is real." Now, Cabell County's Sheriff's Detectives and crime scene technicians, along with the FBI, are getting as many clues as they can to solve the mystery. Cabell County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Doug Ferguson says there's more than just a skull. "There are additional pieces of evidence we've located that would lead us to believe there is additional things more than just the skull portion of the remains." Bryan Justice says he just wants to know who it is and what happened. He says it's hard to get that visual out of his head. "It's not a pleasant sight, I mean, I've been around here since I was 13 and never seen anything like that. It's really disturbing." Investigators will continue their work Tuesday morning. No word yet if the remains are that of a male or female. Authorities are investigating human skeletal remains discovered on a hillside in Cabell County Sunday. Sheriff Tom McComas says that the remains appear to have been at the scene for a long time. A resident found a skull Sunday while surveying the property in Ona. He called McComas at home to report the discovery. McComas says investigators cordoned off the hillside and found other evidence during an initial search. The search will resume Monday. "It's just strange nothing like this ever happens up here," neighbor Jan Rose said. "It's extremely obvious that its human remains," McComas added. He said it's too early to say whether a crime was committed. Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for updates to this developing story.
