An early morning fire has claimed the life of an elderly woman in Greenup County, Kentucky.
The fire broke out about 2 a.m. Thursday at 1597 Diederich Blvd. in Russell, emergency dispatchers said. The elderly woman living in the home died, dispatchers said.
The road had to be closed while crews battled the fire. The Russell, Raceland, Worthington and Westwood Fire Departments all responded.
Investigators do not know at this time what caused the fire.
