After nearly two decades, a well-known Charleston police officer has turned in his badge and retired.
On Friday, fellow colleagues, friends and family members held a retirement party for Lt. Duke Jordan. Jordan served in several different units over the last 22 years, but mostly he was on bike patrol.
He said he enjoyed the exercise and getting to know members of the community on a personal level.
Jordan is a man of many talents. He has written a book on personal relationships, invented fitness equipment and even sold Mary Kay cosmetics at one time. He said he is ready to give up the uniform, but he will miss all of his friends at City Hall.
Jordan said for now, he will continue to sell real estate and work for the Department of Defense as a military contractor.
