A second man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the brutal murder of a man.
David K. Gerald, 37, of Wheelersburg was sentenced to life without parole plus 29 years consecutively, according to a press release from Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn.
Gerald was convicted of murdering Felipe Lopez, 24, of Friendship, on March 7, according to the news release. Gerald was convicted of all 10 counts of an indictment that included aggravated murder, aggravated arson, tampering with evidence and kidnapping charges.
Lopez's burned body was discovered with several hatchet blows to the head and stab wounds, inside of a truck that was on fire, the release said. Assistant Prosecutor Julie Hutchinson said in the statement that Lopez was immobilized before he was stabbed, then soaked with gasoline and set on fire.
