School officials in eastern Kentucky have disciplined 16 students for sending sexually explicit cellular telephone images.
Rowan County High School Assistant Principal Ray Ginter told WYMT-TV in Hazard the students who were caught were both boys and girls, mostly freshmen and sophomores.
The students have been banned from using their cellphones at school for the rest of the year. They also had to miss Saturday's homecoming dance and the athletes among them had to sit out a pair of football games and a first round game of the soccer district tournament.
No charges have been filed.
Ginter said most of the parents have been supportive and most are continuing the punishment at home.
