Republican candidates for some state offices are shelling out a lot of cash on the upcoming election.
West Virginia's recently redistricted House of Delegates is opening up a lot of new races and some counties are becoming expensive battlegrounds.
The latest round of campaign finance reports shows significant fundraising and spending in Jefferson, Kanawha, Raleigh and Monongalia counties.
Democrats hold a 15-seat edge in the 100-member house. That’s half of the 34-member Senate is on this year's ballot, but Democrats maintain a firm majority.
Legislative candidates raised more than $1 million combined and have spent that much since the May primary.
