West Virginia American Water has issued a boil water advisory for 300 customers in the Red House and Putnam Union areas of Putnam County.

Crews say a main broke on Lone Oak Road, which drained a water storage tank. They are trying to repair it as quickly as possible.

The affected area includes Route 34 from Round Knob to Confidence Elementary School, Grandview Ridge Road from Route 34 to Steele Ridge Road, Loan Oak Road, Wilkie Road and Antioch Road.

Customers should boil their water for at least one minute before cooking, drinking, bathing, brushing teeth and cleaning.
