A Logan County man has been selected as his company’s 2012 Region 2 Flight Nurse of the Year. Leo Ball of Pecks Mill, a flight nurse for the Logan Air Evac Lifeteam base, was selected for the regional honor. Ball's region consists of Air Evac Lifeteam bases in Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and West Virginia, according to a news release from the company. The Flight Nurse of the Year is presented to the nurse who works as a team player, demonstrates a desire to increase knowledge and skills, and actively pursues opportunities to promote Air Evac Lifeteam in the community. "Leo has always gone above and beyond to be an excellent provider," Regional Director of Base Operations Janie Ward said. "He has been instrumental in the success of the base, and is seen as a leader among his peers. His knowledge is frequently called upon, and is an authority in the area of critical care transport." Ward added that Ball "has worked tirelessly to assist in education of emergency medical providers in this area, and is well-known and respected throughout the emergency medical community of West Virginia. He represents Air Evac Lifeteam well throughout the state."
