Ashland police said they discovered a significant marijuana growing operation while on the search for a fugitive from Arizona.
On Wednesday, detectives from the Ashland Police Department and members of the U.S. Marshals Service went to an apartment complex on Bath Avenue, according to a news release from the Ashland Police Department. Officials were looking for Ellis T. Pittman, 33, from Maricopa County, Ariz., the release said. Pittman was wanted for two felony counts of aggravated assault and was taken in to custody.
Police discovered more than 40 marijuana plants, valued at nearly $100,000, and other equipment and paraphernalia to cultivate the plants, the release said. Police arrested Rebecca R. Leone, 29, and Edmund L. Thomas, 33, who were living in the apartment.
Leone and Thomas were each charged with marijuana cultivation of more than five plants. Leone was also wanted for an unrelated warrant.
