Detectives with the FADE Drug Task Force arrested a couple in Greenup County, Ky., after discovering a meth lab in the bedroom of a child, according to a news release from the task force.
Officers arrested David O. Wellman, 32, and Vickie A. Stepp, 27, both of Raceland.
On Monday, the Raceland Police Department responded to a call involving a domestic violence incident, the release said. Once officers were inside the home on the 500 block of Crump Street, they noticed what appeared to be a meth lab in a child's bedroom, the release said. Officers notified the FADE task force, which confirmed that it was a meth lab, and a special unit with the Kentucky State Police had to dismantle it.
Wellman and Stepp are being charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a controlled substance. They are being held at the Greenup County Jail.
The FADE Task Force is made up of officers from the Flatwoods, Grayson, Raceland and Russell Police Departments and the Carter County Sheriff's Department.
