Plans on the new Huntington East Middle School are moving along, and school officials are looking forward to the transition.
During Tuesday's Board of Education meeting, pictures of the updated construction were shown. Construction is behind about three weeks, but officials believe that they will be able to make up that time before the winter months.
Officials expect students to be in the new building by the beginning of the 2014 school year. During the 2013 fall semester, Enslow Middle and Beverly Hills Middle will still be in separate buildings, but they will go by the Huntington East Middle School name. School staff will take that time work on different activities to integrate the students into the new facility.
The board also named Ryan McKenzie as a new assistant principal for Huntington East Middle during the meeting.
