If you have a sweet tooth or you're simply in the mood for a good dinner pie, there is a new bakery in town.
And the woman behind the store full of temptation is Charleston native, Sarah Plumley.
Plumley opened up Sarah's Bakery about a week ago off Bridge Road in South Hills. She said she never thought she would finally achieve her dream of owning her own business and cooking in her hometown.
"It's kind of cool to be home and be so supported by family and friends," Plumley said.
Plumley said she bakes everything from scratch. She said her specialty and special form of therapy is making scrumptious dinner pies like pulled pork barbecue and shepherd's pie.
"It means home; it means comfort,” she said about making pies. “I make my crust from scratch. Everyone thinks of pie as something their grandmother made or their mom made."
Plumley said her inspiration comes from Chef Eric LeVine, champion of the Food Network's hit show “Chopped.” He's also part owner of the store.
But whatever she plans on baking for the day, Plumley said, it's all about keeping her customers happy and content.
"I want them to walk away with the feeling that they were treated right and had good customer service,” Plumley said. “And they got a really yummy treat, whether it be a pie or brownie that they can bring home to their family and friends."
Plumley posts special pie recipes every day on her Facebook or Twitter page. Wedding cakes made by Sara Lane from Dolce Vita will soon be featured at the bakery.
