A former World War I veteran was honored Tuesday posthumously for his service to our country.
Dorothy Gunno, the daughter of John Harvey Turner, received the WWI Bronze Victory Button and the Victory Medal in honor of her father.
Turner was a carpenter who served in the F Company Ammunition Infantry. He fought in a total of three battles and was sprayed with mustard gas, Gunno said. She said her father deserved this recognition.
Turner passed away in 1962. Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito presented the medal to Gunno.
