Nearly 9,000 people in Boone and Lincoln Counties have power Tuesday morning, according to AEP's web page.
The outages were reported Monday evening after an apparent AEP transmission line that failed.
According to an AEP spokesman, a main transmission line that goes from the John Amos Power Plant to a substation in Hopkins stopped working. Crews were dispatched to the scene Monday evening to begin the repairs.
At the peak of the outage, about 5,000 people in Boone County and 3,500 in Lincoln County were without power.
