The Wayne County superintendent of schools is expected to retire during a Board of Education meeting Tuesday.
Wayne County Schools Superintendent Gary Adkins's last official day will be Oct. 31.
"I've been superintendent for 11 years. I talked to my wife and my adult children, and it's time to retire. I get along great with the Board of Education, and they've been wonderful to me," Adkins told WCHS.
