A man accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend pleaded guilty Friday in Putnam Circuit Court to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life with mercy.
Eric Pauley, 50, is accused in the death his girlfriend, Deb Roseik, 52, in September 2011. He was sentenced Friday by Judge Phillip Stowers to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years.
He previously told the judge he shot his girlfriend because he was mad she woke him up in the middle of the night. After the shooting, police said, Pauley came to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, handed over his keys and admitted to shooting his girlfriend. He also told police he was afraid she could be dead. When police arrived at the residence in the Winfield Mobile Home Village, they found Roseik shot to death.
Friends and neighbors described Pauley as a good guy, and said they were shocked.
