St. Albans police are investigating an accident in which a man and his daughter walking in the street were struck by a sport utility vehicle.
Shawn Shamblen and his daughter, Savannah, 6, were walking in the street about 8 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Walnut Street and Washington Avenue in St. Albans when they were hit by the vehicle, St. Albans Police Capt. James Agee said.
The father suffered injuries to his arm and his leg while the daughter had injuries to her face. Agee said the injuries did not appear to be life threatening, and the two injured pedestrians were taken to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.
Agee said the driver, John Curry, 58, of St. Albans, was turning right onto Washington Avenue from Walnut Street when the accident occurred. He said the intersection is "fairly dark," and Curry was traveling at a low speed.
No charges have been filed. The incident remains under investigation.
