May the best band win.

The annual showdown between the eight high school bands across the Kanawha Valley takes center stage at University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field Tuesday evening.

This is the 66th year for the Kanawha Valley Band and Majorette Festival.

Awards are presented for the best band in playing and marching, best drum corps, field commander, flag corps and twirler.

The twirler to earn the title of Miss Kanawha Valley Majorette also will secure a college scholarship.

The competition kicks off at 6:30 p.m. You can get tickets at the gate.

Marshall University's Marching Thunder also will perform.
