Two violent crimes, a little more than a block apart, a few days apart, both in a busy area of Downtown Charleston. Now, police say they need help to crack the cases.
"If we can get the information that we know the witnesses have, we have we can make that area a lot safer," Chief of Detectives, Lt. Steve Cooper, says.
On Monday police caught a break, in the 500 block of Madison Street they found the car which was stolen from the victim of a robbery, beating and kidnapping. 65-year-old Emery Casdorph was at the Chase ATM on Virginia Street Thursday morning when police say he was approached by two men, demanding money. When he was unable to get money from the ATM, they forced him into his car at gunpoint and drove him to another ATM. He was still unsuccessful and that's when police say they beat him with the gun, stole his wallet and drove off in his car.
Police are processing the victim's recovered car and are hoping someone will come forward with information.
They're also asking for help to solve a triple shooting, that happened in the same area of Downtown -- outside of Sky Lounge on Capitol Street early Saturday morning. Police say a fight inside the bar escalated outside and shots were fired. Two people inside the bar were hit, a third man on the street was also shot. Police say they believe they know who their two suspects are but need cooperation.
"We have information that witnesses saw the entire incident but they have not come forward," Lt. Cooper says.
If you saw anything in the areas where the shooting or the robbery took place you are asked to call Charleston Police. Police are also hoping people living in the Madison Street area, where the car was ditched, may have saw something suspicious and will come forward.
