A witness in the Kanawha County sniper investigation is under arrest after police say he stole from South Charleston businesses.
South Charleston Police arrested Sam Ranson Tuesday night. They say he had been stealing from Cabelas, Dicks Sporting Goods, Gander Mountain, Walmart and Drug Emporium for the past two days. They say he took items like heart monitors, cameras and fishing equipment; and would then take the stolen goods to Keller's Pawn Shop.
Police say Keller's wasn't recording the transactions correctly, as required by law. A warrant has been issued to search the pawn shop.
Ranson was already on probation for transferring and receiving stolen property. He was supposed to meet with his probation officer Tuesday, but said he was sick. His bond has been set at $25,000 cash only.
