West Virginia Attorney General Darrell McGraw is warning people about a telephone scam targeting travelers.
McGraw says the scam reported across West Virginia and surrounding states targets guests staying in hotel rooms.
As part of the scam, individuals are receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be an employee of the hotel and telling the guest his or her personal information was not processed correctly.
The travelers are then told their credit card number and other personal information needs to be given again to correct the problem.
McGraw is encouraging all travelers and customers to never give out personal information over the telephone. He said travelers should instead make a trip to the front lobby desk to ask about the problem.
