Kids were learning important lessons in civics education, volunteerism and patriotism Friday in Charleston.
About 450 students from Boone, Lincoln and Kanawha counties were participating in the Civic Literacy Council’s Citizenship Day. The students had plenty to do Friday, from meeting many state leaders to touring the Governor’s Mansion.
Organizers said it is important to teach the kids about our state’s history and our government.
The event was organized by the West Virginia Civic Literacy Council and the state Department of Education.
