An 18-year-old man is in jail after troopers said he allegedly shot his uncle with a stolen gun Tuesday night in Braxton County. Family members said Billy Joe McCraw, 18, and his uncle, Donald Morrison, 33, were sitting on a couch inside a home near Braxton County High School about 11:30 p.m. when they passed a gun between themselves. During the exchange, a gunshot hit Morrison in the chsst. Morrison died. Family members say McCraw would never have meant to hurt his uncle. McCraw is charged with wanton endangerment. West Virginia State Police investigators say the gun used in the shooting is stolen from Ohio. They are still investigating to determine if the shooting was accidental. They plan to meet with the prosecutor in Braxton County to decide if any additional charges will be filed. A teenager has been arrested for a fatal shooting in Braxton County. West Virginia State Police said the shooting happened at a home in the Squires Trailer Court outside of Sutton, just below Braxton County High School, about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Donald Morrison, 33, was shot and killed. Police have arrested Billy Joe McCraw, 18, and charged him with wanton endangerment with a firearm. Police say the investigation is continuing and that charge could be upgraded. There were other people inside the home at the time of the shooting, but no one else was hurt.
