West Virginia's junior senator was scheduled to host a bipartisan federal fiscal summit in the capital city Monday.
U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin was slated to be at the state Cultural Center Theater along with former Republican Sen. Alan Simpson and former Clinton Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles. The two men were set to make the case for fixing nation's finances.
The "Our Finances & Our Future: A Bipartisan Conversation About the Facts" event was free and open to the public starting at 9 a.m.
Manchin delivered a floor speech on Aug. 1 describing nation's need to come together around a solution to put its financial house in order.
