A Charleston man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion in Nitro in which a woman was severely beaten in the head with a gun, authorities said.
Jamal Burnett, 29, of 922 Central Ave. was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree robbery, malicious wounding, nighttime burglary and assault during the commission of a felony, according to a news release from the Nitro Police Department.
Police said the woman sustained numerous injuries during the Aug. 31 beating, and items were taken from the home during the incident.
Burnett was arraigned before Kanawha County Magistrate Julie Yeager and was being held at the South Central Regional Jail on a $50,000 property bond.
Nitro police, members of the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office and the Charleston Police Department made the arrest.
