Huntington police have arrested 21 people on various drug and prostitution charges and have warrants for 19 other suspects.
Police served two search warrants Thursday related to a street level drug investigation initiated by the Special Emphasis Unit earlier this year. In January, the unit began conducting undercover operations in areas of town where the police department had received complaints about prostitution activity. The undercover operation consisted of undercover operatives making narcotics purchases and soliciting prostitution cases from suspects.
As a result, officers obtained arrest warrants for 40 individuals with charges ranging from soliciting prostitution, delivery of an imitation controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance. Police said at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, officers served search warrants at 810 10th St. and 1029 Monroe Ave.
While at the 810 10th St. residence, officers seized a small amount of crack cocaine, imitation crack cocaine packaged for sale, scales, packaging material and drug paraphernalia.
Police said the residence located at 1029 Monroe Ave. was in deplorable sanitary conditions unsuitable for living. The Cabell County Health Department posted a “Do Not Occupy” notice at the residence before it was secured.
