A man who told prosecutors he was in the truck the night of the Kanawha County sniper shootings has been sentenced for owning more than 23 guns while using controlled substances.
Rodney Shaffer was sentenced to 1 ½ years in federal prison. Police found the weapons while searching for evidence on property in Sissonville. Prosecutors say that Shaffer, his late father and Shawn Lester were all in the truck the night Jeannie Patton was killed.
Shaffer said he heard the shot and saw the Speedway gas station sign, but he didn’t see who pulled the trigger.
