How would you like to learn how to model for free? Well you can, and you don't have to just be a teenager. But there's a catch.

These girls are practicing for an upcoming fashion show. They are taking classes on runway techniques, modeling and pageantry coaching. The classes are for both girls and women.

The classes are free but in exchange the student models are asked to help raise money for the charity Mountain Mission.

For Tammy Lloyd who's been in the fashion business for a long time and who wanted to give back to the community, The Fashion with a Focus program benefits all involved. She say it teaches the girls and women confidence and it's very rewarding to see how the student models have evolved from the beginning of the program to the end.

Area residents interesting in modeling can receive free instruction and raise money for some good causes.

The “Fashion With a Focus” modeling program is being offered at West Virginia State University, according to information on the program's website. All classes and fashion shows will take place at the university’s Davis Fine Arts Theater. Open registration begins 6 p.m. Thursday at the theater.

Classes will include modeling techniques, pageantry coaching, runway floor exercises, stage makeup instruction and photography modeling. Three age divisions will be offered – adults, 18 plus; teen, 15-17; and pre-teen, 12-14.

In exchange for the free training, models will be asked to participate in fundraising efforts through the course of the program, raising money for various charities. The program, organized by volunteers, is partnering with Mountain Mission and other local charities.

The program culminates with a Dec. 8 holiday fashion show.
