Water service has been restored and the road has been reopened after a water main break in Cross Lanes caused a mess for homeowners and motorists.
West Washington Street was shut down for a while after water was spotted bubbling up under the roadway near Sun Valley Drive about 6:30 a.m. Monday. It buckled the pavement near Huskey’s Dairy Bar in several spots.
Water service was restored by this afternoon, and the road is now reopened.
Neighbors said this isn’t the first time they have had problems in that spot.
A water main break Monday morning in Cross Lanes was causing some headaches for motorists and residents.
The break forced the closure of West Washington Street at Sun Valley Drive near Huskey’s Dairy Bar. Neighbors said they heard the sound of roaring water about 6:30 a.m. and began redirecting traffic around the area.
At 9:30 a.m., water was coming out of another break in the pavement.
