Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies charges are pending against two women allegedly involved in a fight in St. Albans.
The sheriff’s department said in a news release that a battery charge is expected to be filed against Tara Jo Turley, 37, of St. Albans, and a malicious wounding charge is expected to be filed against Jacqueline N. McClanahan, 30, of Strawberry Road.
Deputies responded to the report of a disturbance at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1573 Strawberry Road. When they arrived, they found medics preparing to transport Turley to Charleston Area Medical Center. She had sustained a wound to the neck from being shot with an air rifle. Deputies determined that a fight had occurred between the two women.
McClanahan alleged that Turley assaulted her with a baseball bat, the release said. Deputies said they determined that McClanahan did fire the air rifle that caused the injury to Turley.
A hospital spokesman said Turley was under evaluation in the intensive care unit of CAMC General Hospital.
