Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies are investigating allegations that a Marshall University professor raped a juvenile female relative.
William M. Morrison was taken into custody Tuesday when he turned himself into detectives, according to a news release from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s department said it responded to a call on Sunday that a female juvenile had alleged that the suspect had raped her at a residence in South Point, Ohio.
The investigation revealed that after the alleged rape, the juvenile contacted another relative who came to the residence. When the relative arrived at the residence, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, the sheriff’s department said.
A felony rape warrant was obtained from the Lawrence County Municipal Court in Chesapeake, Ohio. Detectives attempted to locate the suspect, and he came to the sheriff’s office with his attorney and was taken into custody.
Morrison will be arraigned Friday in Lawrence County Municipal Court.
