Students will have a chance to receive their required immunizations at a clinic sponsored by the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department.
The department has scheduled an extended walk-in school immunization clinic from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday at 108 Lee St. E. in Charleston, according to a news release from the health department. All students must bring a complete copy of their immunization records to the clinic.
Under state law, there are new requirements for seventh and 12th grade students this year, and the West Virginia Department of Education has provided a two-week grace period for all children to receive the newly required vaccinations. The grace period for Kanawha County school students ends on Friday.
Students entering seventh grade are required to show proof of a Tdap booster and a dose of meningococcal vaccine. Students entering 12th grade are required to show proof of a single dose of Tdap vaccine and at least one dose of meningococcal vaccine given after the 16th birthday.
For a complete list of recommended vaccinations, please visit www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules.
Registration forms, costs and insurances accepted are available on the department’s website. If you need additional information, please contact 304-348-8080 or visit the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department website, www.kchdwv.org.
