Cabell County health officials say they are investigating a suspected case of tuberculosis.
Elizabeth Ayers, the public health educator with the Cabell County Health Department, said those test results have not come back, but health department officials have been in contact with the person believed to have contracted the disease and anyone they may have come in contact with.
Symptoms of TB include a fever and a heavy respiratory cough for several weeks. If an infection is determined, treatment should begin immediately.
Jim Garrett, education services director for the Huntington Junior College on Fifth Avenue, said a student there is being tested for TB, and the school is following the precautions recommended by the health department.
