Hundreds come out to remember a coach who died suddenly on the field before a game this weekend. Players say Coach Dick Greene, 57, coached with a passion you don't often come across, and the rest of the the season will be played in his memory. "He wouldn't want us being sad for him, he would still want us to play our hearts out every game," says junior Becca Hill. Green coached girl's soccer for decades and most recently was the assistant coach at Nitro High School. "He also coached you, taught you, and made you love this game," said Head Coach Kim Aurelio. Green died Saturday on the field after suffering a massive heart attack before a game against Huntington. "It's amazing to see how many people he has impacted," said Aurelio. Hundreds came out to a vigil Monday night on the soccer field at the High School. Playes lined the field with candles before the vigil. "This whole season's for him and probably many more to come. It's all going to be for Dick," said sophomore Savannah Miller. "I'm going to miss him so much. I'll always have him with me though," said Hill. "He would be mad if we didn't come out here and get back on this field, and that's what I told my girls today in the locker room, and said we've got to get back out there. We've got to do our thing and overcome all this because he's sitting up there mad at us right now because we haven't touched a ball yet since Saturday," said the head coach.
